A little preview of "Sour Candies" by Jon Dambacher

Chicken

He sat bald and sweating through his black wifebeater in the driver’s seat of that burgundy Dodge Neon purchased on eBay.  The passenger’s seat window had already lost most of its tinting to reveal the slurping, chewing, sucking chicken tender grease off his fingers.  His final action would be swallowing that mouthful followed by a large sigh deflating his chest.  There was a silence after the gunshot.  It was strong in its intent and a successful hit.  His forehead fell deep into the steering wheel and stopped.  Just outside the car, between the KFC parking lot and the sidewalk, traffic continued going through, slowing down, and stopping at the light for hours.

Before leaving the parking lot I thought about calling the police to report what had happened.  Having been the only witness to his colorless mental defeat, perhaps some help was needed, maybe his family should to be notified, a child may be called out of class to sit down in the principle’s office and gently learn the truth.  But this isn’t a job for an incompetent man like myself.

In his fallen silence I understood this had been a moment of strength.  He took possession of his own destiny.  There he would sit finally in a moment of power.

I left him without calling some brutes to pull him out of there, to remove him from his faux cloth thrown of chipped metallic burgundy.  As a captain clings to the bow of his sinking ship he would remain in his final resting place like a sergeant with one round left covering his troops by spraying bullets as the others run for cover.  We expect our heroes to remain heroic.  I think he would have wanted it that way.

Africa doesn't have enough infrastructure to support Digital Age

That sucks.  Nobody is going to be opening high tech companies over there or market their high tech gadgets to Africans because they don't have enough power to power all these new gadgets.

The Continent that was left behind.

North Africa is heating up for Arab Summer

Rebels have taken over Misurata airport and there are claims that Qaddaffi has left Tripoli and is injured from the latest NATO air strike.

What the hell is going on over there?

Meanwhile, we are nearing the 1K dead mark in Syria and protesters and government officials keep ratcheting up the rhetoric.

I wish I knew more about what was going on, but the only important thing happening here is that NATO is making decisions without America at the helm.

Egypt is sinking into Madness and Chaos.

When are we all going to get together over a Soda and work these problems out.

More deaths on Syria's 'day of defiance' - Middle East - Al Jazeera English

More deaths on Syria's 'day of defiance' - Middle East - Al Jazeera English

For the Western non-muslim people to understand what is happening in Syria.

It seems as if there is madness every Friday and then things cool off for the week.

It's true. There are prayers every friday, and then everyone walks out and protests afterward.

It's gonna get crazy next Friday.

Silver is sitting back in the 30's.

Silver is back at $39.39  It lost 7.51% today. You investors that bought at $50 better hold on and hope it comes back up, it always goes back up, but how long will it take?  Even though, $39 and some change for an ounce of Silver.  That's a lot of money for a bar of silver.  I'm getting in when it goes back to $30 or if Saudi Arabia blows up like the rest.  Welcome to the Rollercoaster of Commodities.  It also helped that the Federal Trade Commission slapped an extra fee on Silver Hoarders.  You have to pay a premium to buy silver stocks and that's why me and you are gonna make a killing with our Bars of Silver.  We'll buy so many that we can make houses of Silver.  Forget about gold.  Maybe we'll buy some copper for wiring insulation but hells ya.  Get that warehouse out in the boonies up and running.  We're gonna need someplace to store all this stuff.
